Delivering a key EPBC milestone for Brisbane’s Olympic precincts!
28 South Environmental is proud to have led the EPBC Act referral for the proposed Brisbane Stadium, National Aquatic Centre and broader precinct works at Victoria Park / Barrambin.
Acting as GIICA’s environmental planning consultant, our team prepared and submitted the referral, which has now received a Not a Controlled Action decision from the Australian Government.
This outcome confirms the proposed action can proceed in its current form without further assessment under the EPBC Act, providing critical early certainty and enabling these key Brisbane 2032 infrastructure projects to progress efficiently alongside State approvals processes.
Securing this decision required a robust assessment of potential Matters of National Environmental Significance, combined with a clear and strategic referral approach to de-risk the Commonwealth approvals pathway.
We’re proud to support GIICA in navigating complex environmental approvals and helping unlock the timely delivery of legacy infrastructure for Brisbane and Queensland.
A big shout out to our team who delivered this career-defining project – Christopher Huff, Tahlia Piccirillo , Gordon Morris, Mitchell Oxley, Mitch Taylor
